Raised in the Midwest, Ryan Sartin received his BFA from Hunter College in New York City and has extensive experience with music, performance, and theater. His work deals with themes of the sacred and profane, decoration and reduction, hidden versus seen, and gaudy versus opulent. Extending the convention-bending forms of painting from the 50's and 60's, Sartin provokes cultural ideas of value and meaning through various materials including fabric, mylar, wood, gold leaf, and mud.

Ryan Sartin lives and works in New Orleans, LA.
